IndyBall Day 1 Top Performers

John MurryThe IndyBall.com tournament started play Friday night, but the majority of teams did not begin their pool play until Saturday. The pools were set-up so that most of the top teams would advance to the gold bracket with relative ease. Here is a look at some of the top performers that we witnessed first-hand on Saturday.

John Murry 6’3” SG North Central (2013) had 25 against Tony Wills and King’s Court to pull Club Elite Wildcats from a double digit deficit.  He did it in a variety of ways; he hit perimeter shots off the catch, he drove to the basket and scored against contact, and even had a dunk after driving the lane in the half-court set. He was at the top of his game Saturday as I heard that he had 25+ in his first game of the day as well.

Chandler White 6’2” SG Fort Wayne Carroll (2015) showed a bit of everything. He forced turnovers with his defense, scored in transition, scored above the rim, and showed off his outside shooting ability. Over the last few years, he has transitioned from a post player to a perimeter player and the move seems to be going seamlessly. He reported that Michigan will watch him work-out Monday at Carroll.

Chris Nunn 5’11” PG Liberty Christian (2015) was a big part of Spiece Indy Heat's come from behind victory. He forced a couple turnovers and pushed the ball for lay-ups. Nunn also knocked down a couple of outside jumpers. Overall, he had a very efficient game from the young point guard.

Bryant McIntosh 6’3” SG Greensburg (2014) started the 1st game off with red hot shooting from the outside. He's a couple inches bigger than he was last spring and his athleticism has really taken off. I would guess that he has another inch or two left of growing from his baby-face as well.

Devin Davis 6’6” F Warren Central (2013 committed to IU) had a really good today. He provided the loaded Eric Gordon All-Stars with defensive intensity and toughness on the boards. He was in the passing lanes and got a few steals which resulted with him finishing with powerful two-handed dunks on the break.
