Indiana Basketball Source All-State 2013

There are many players that had very good high school seasons, but these are the players that stood out to us when you take in all the factors of production, competition and success among other things. Here are our four Indiana all-state teams for the 2012-2013.

First Team

Demetrius Jackson, 6-1 PG Mishawaka Marian 2013, the McDonald’s All-American averaged nearly 27 points per game this season. He is signed with Notre Dame.

Bryson Scott, 6-2 CG Fort Wayne Northrop 2013, the Purdue-bound senior eclipsed the 2,000 career point mark this season.

Zak Irvin, 6-6 SG Hamilton Southeastern 2013, the frontrunner for Mr. Basketball had a great season although his HSE team lost in the first round of sectionals. Irvin averaged 25 points and 9 rebounds a game while shooting 62% from 2-point range and 34% from 3. He will play for Michigan next season.

Trevon Bluiett, 6-6 SF Park Tudor 2014, the high-major recruit had a great season for Park Tudor. He averaged 28 points per game while being very efficient. His season was cut unexpectedly short by Broad Ripple in sectionals.

JaQuan Lyle, 6-4 PG Evansville Bosse 2014, the coveted recruit had a monster season. He posted a game where he had 40 points and 20 rebounds along with multiple triple-doubles. Bosse lost to Greensburg in the Washington Regional.

Second Team

Trey Lyles, 6-9 PF Indianapolis Arsenal Tech 2014, the year unfortunately ended early for Lyles as he sat the sectional final with a knee injury. Lyles might have had the best performance of the year when he went 10-11 from the field for 24 points and 12 rebounds against the super talented Cliff Alexander of Chicago.

James Blackmon Jr., 6-3 SG Fort Wayne Bishop Luers 2014, if you follow Indiana high school basketball it seemed like Blackmon was putting up 40 points on a nightly basis. I saw him twice in person this season, and he went for 42 and 39 in thetwo games. It is even more impressive since he tore his ACL towards the end of last season. Blackmon is verbally committed to Indiana University.

Darryl Baker, 6-2 SG Jeffersonville 2013, has had the type of season that everyone has expected out of him for the last three seasons. He was a highly-rated recruit to begin his high school career, but he did not produce at an extremely high level until this season. This season Baker has averaged more than 25 points per game, and Jeffersonville is in Semi-State.

Mike Crawford, 6-4 SG Tipton 2013, the all-time leading scorer in basketball rich Tipton is quite an accomplishment. Tipton plays Bowman Academy Saturday in Semi-State. Crawford scored 40 points in a loss to Bowman in last year’s Semi-State. Crawford is signed with St. Louis.

PJ Thompson, 5-9 PG Brebeuf Jesuit 2014, the junior point guard scored 24 points per game. He has a host of mid-major offers. Thompson will be a closely followed prospect on the club circuit this spring and summer.

Third Team

Nick Davidson, 6-4 PG Andrean 2013 (Valparaiso University)

Basil Smotherman, 6-6 SF Lawrence North 2013 (Purdue University)

Ernie Duncan, 6-1 PG Evansville Harrison 2014

Collin Hartman, 6-6 SF Cathedral 2013 (Indiana University)

Anthony Johnson, 6-2 SG Decatur Central 2013

Fourth Team

Brenton Scott, 6-1 PG Fort Wayne Northrop 2013 (Indiana State University)

Mack Mercer, 6-9 PF Plymouth 2014

Jordan Pickett, 6-0 PG Pike 2013 (Loyola)

V.J. Beachem, 6-8 SF New Haven 2013 (Notre Dame)

Devin Davis, 6-6 PF Warren Central 2013 (Indiana University)
