Hammond power forward Darrell Reed (2021) has committed to Alabama State. Reed was offered by the SWAC school in late July and decided to commit before his senior season began.
The Midwest Circuit I.D. camp assembled many high-quality prospects from Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, and Kentucky. Indiana Basketball Source details 14 2022 frontcourt players that stood out during the event.
James Jewell – Eastern (Ky.)
Jewell was the eye-catcher of the camp. He’s a 6’5” wing with long arms. He’s explosive around the rim with his two-foot dunks. Jewell displayed excellent form on his shot as well. He converted mid-range shots over defenders and open three-pointers. He showed that he can do a bit of everything. Jewell is definitely a mid-major prospect with the chance to go even higher with his athleticism.
Indiana Basketball Source spent Saturday at the Midwest Circuit I.D. Camp. In the first installment of reviews, the biggest standouts from the 2022 class are detailed. Later in the week, there will be more breakdowns from the event.
Jewell was an unknown to me before the camp, but he changed that in a hurry. The lanky wing played with energy throughout the day leading to rebounds, dunks, and other scoring opportunities. It wasn’t just his physical tools that made him stand out. He also displayed a smooth jumper that has excellent rotation. He hit shots off the catch and over defender in the mid-range. There is little doubt that he has the talent to play at the mid-major level, but he has the attributes to give him a chance at the high-major tier as well.

Gabe Sisk – Ballard (Ky.)
Sisk is a high-scoring guard from Louisville. He made an impression on Indiana Basketball Source with his 17U performance at the Terrific 24 in August. On Saturday, Sisk played at a high level again. Sisk is a big guard at 6’3”/6’4” with wide shoulders and a strong build for a sophomore. He has a scoring mentality where he naturally finds scoring opportunities. In a camp setting, that served him particularly well. Sisk constantly scored in transition as defenses failed to stop him. He’s also a good shooter that doesn’t need time or space. He’s an excellent college prospect.
2022 guards CJ Gunn and Leland Walker recently received new high-major offers. Gunn was offered by Wake Forest, while Walker gained an offer from Providence.
