The game is starting to click for Jaren Jackson Jr. He has surprised people with his play on the Nike EYBL circuit through two weeks. A few familiar faces remain in the hunt for the 2017 power forward. Here’s an update with Jaren Jackson Jr.
Jaren Jackson Jr. is averaging 16 points and seven rebounds through seven games on the tough EYBL circuit. His play was highlighted by a 35-point performance to finish the first session. He carried his play over to the second session in Indianapolis.
“I think I’m playing the way that I always knew how I could play,” said Jaren Jackson Jr. “Just being out here against the best players in the country will always bring out your best because everyone wants to win and everyone is playing for scholarships.”
The consistency that he is starting to play with is the biggest development. Indiana Basketball Source looked at the strides that Jackson made during the high school season in February. The points made in that article are ringing true with stellar play against the best post players in America.
Maryland and Michigan State remain active in Jaren Jackson’s recruitment. Both head coaches visited Jackson in Indianapolis over the last couple of weeks. Those two schools seem to top Jackson’s list at this point.
Stanford has increased their position with Jackson with the recent coaching change. Adam Cohen was recruiting Jackson at Vanderbilt. He’s now at Stanford under Jerod Haase. Cohen has helped bolster Stanford’s position with Jaren Jackson Jr.
Jackson says that he plans to cut his list after July. That will allow him to work towards a college decision by the early signing period. He has no specifics about official visits at this point.
Jackson’s play on the EYBL circuit is going to attract new schools. Maryland and Michigan State are in good spots with Jackson right now along with Georgetown and Stanford. It will be interesting to see if new schools can get into that mix as the summer develops.
